Build up caused by fabric softener sheets can decrease the airflow thru your lint filter, which causes slower drying time. Just like not emptying your lint filter after each dryer load, not cleaning the buildup caused by dryer sheets, will impede the airflow thru your lint filter thus increasing drying time. Cleaning this buildup a few times a year is sufficient to make your dryer more efficient. This increased efficiency can increase the life of your dryer, by decreasing run time.
